Berliner Architects worked with the team at Wildwood Elementary School to renovate their 2,000SF library building to accommodate more collaborative and individual learning spaces and a flexible layout to accommodate multiple uses. The renovation creates a warm, well-lit, engaging learning space that inspires all visitors to the library. The design includes private spaces for reading, introducing niches into the space, group seating for story time, flexible seating to accommodate up to forty people for tours for prospective parents and a connection to the outdoors, while still keeping in mind lockdown drills and shelter in place scenarios. The renovation of the library included keeping 90% of the existing books as well as incorporating new technology and displaying student work.
