Pomona School of Art and Enterprise
Scope: Outdoor Learning
Size: 30,000 SF
Completion: In Design
Project Architect: Richard Berliner, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, ALEP
Project Manager: Rahel Zewdu, LEED AP
Working with the Pomona School for Arts and Entertainments and a Cal Fire Green Schools Grant, the Berliner team designed revitalized outdoor spaces for their two campuses. The Designs incorporate outdoor learning, lunch, gathering and rest areas surrounded by native drought-tolerant plantings. The design includes shade structures as well as mature tree planting for natural shade. These previously forgotten spaces on campus will not only provide additional usable space for the school but will provide the area with more biodiversity and additional tree canopy to help mitigate the effects of climate change.
